In loving memory of Naomi Schurr
Welcome to our virtual library, in loving memory of our grandma Naomi Schurr. Aside from being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Naomi had a passion for reading. She was a high school English teacher, maintained her apartment building's lending library, and spent most afternoons sitting and reading her favorite books. Her repertoire spanned Jane Austen to Colleen Hoover. Clearly, she sparked our love of sappy romance novels.
To honor Grandma's legacy, we are inviting friends and family to log the books they have been reading and podcasts they have been listening to on this website. We also include podcasts since Grandma was a news junkie; she read the NYTimes cover to cover every day and was always informed. To friends and family in law school right now: this website is law school-accessible! You can log interesting court cases you have been reading for class. Grandma especially kept up with the Supreme Court's decisions.
One of Grandma's special traits was her devotion to bringing people together. She was the most generous and gracious hostess, and she always called to check in on her friends. She even kept up a written correspondence with her childhood friends. Hopefully, this website can bring together the Special People in our lives to celebrate books and learning. Our request to you: if you see that an old friend has contributed to the website, please give them a phone call and check in.
We will send out a monthly email highlighting some recommendations. You might get a shout out! If you would like to receive the updates, please send us your personal email address.
We are looking forward to coming together to honor our Grandma. Happy reading!
With love,
Emma, Jaime, Madi, and Ali
